friday link love on a thursday

Because of the long weekend, I'm putting link love up on Thursday and taking the rest of the weekend off!

One of my favorite things about St. Louis is the number of free activities there are in the summertime.  This weekend, Darrell and I will be seeing both Bonnie Raitt & Capitol Cities for free.  Because AMERICA.  But really, our fair city has a big 4th of July celebration every year with a few days of free concerts, and this year they really stacked the lineup.  It's like a mini-music festival!  We'll probably only make it to those two shows, but we could also take our pick from The Band Perry, Gavin DeGraw, Matt Nathanson, The Neighborhood, and The Fray.  We are also getting Claire christened on Sunday, and I can't wait to see all of our family in the church (and at brunch!) to celebrate her.

Happy 4th, and here are my favorite links from this week!

Do you watch Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee?  If not, you're missing out!  Jerry Seinfeld's little web series is one of my favorite things, and this week he had Sarah Jessica Parker on.

J.Crew has designed the perfect packing list.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this American flag DIY.  I now need one for my living room.

No surprise here - research says the happiest marriages come down to two virtues: kindness, and generosity.

Speaking of love, this article is so spot on, and Ted Mosby is the worst.

This blog post about being "real" on the internet as a mother is so spot on.  Just like there's nothing wrong with being a mess sometimes, I also don't think there's anything wrong with being put together.

The most perfect guide to every single dress code.

What no one tells you about the first month of motherhood.

What a little girl hears when you only tell her she's pretty.  This one made me cry for some reason!
